THE STORY

July 2017 was the year I had decided I was going to become an entrepreneur and open up my own business. I graduated from California State University, Sacramento with my BS in Biological Sciences, Biomed and I was preparing to move to Hawaii to start my career in pharmacy school. I wanted to become a pharmacist and that dream was about to come true.

or at least I thought it was.

My sister put this idea in my head that I should do hair and makeup for Indian Brides. I stared at her and thought that was the most ridiculous idea ever. I told her I was not good enough to do anyone else's makeup and would make a horrible artist. She quickly reminded me how I ALWAYS got all my friends and family ready for events for years. That idea grew so quickly and passionately I had decided to drop my entire career towards pharmacy and take a chance on myself.  I ventured on and decided to expand MeenQueens Studio to include Spa services. I love having a day of being pampered and relaxation and skincare has always been an interest of mine.

Betting on myself and choosing to open MEENQUEENS was the best thing I could have done for my future. I love being part of an industry that is constantly growing with new ideas and trends. An industry that gives you a chance to express yourself and allow others to love themselves. An industry that allows clients to become a community of friends.

My MEENQUEENS BIG SCRUNCHIE line grew from a simple idea of wanting a larger scrunchie for my everyday hair bun. I am constantly working, and in between my business and full-time day job, I don't have time to worry about my hair getting in my way. I hate having my hair in my face and 90% of the time my hair is up in a bun or pony. I grabbed a few pieces of fabric that were laying around from a previous project and opened up youtube to learn how to sew my own scrunchie. I didn't bother cutting the pieces because I was only trying to practice making one. When I finished the scrunchie it was so BIG and uneven that the idea bloomed into the line I have created today.

I hope you enjoy these BIG SCRUNCHIES as much as I enjoyed hand-making every single one of them.

GO BIG FOR YOUR HAIR!
